The first thing someone sees when walking into a new situation or arriving at an unfamiliar place, is the welcome mat leading them into the new journey they are preparing to embark on. There is a sense of comfort in being welcomed into a space, whether verbal or visual, it still maintains the same impact.

However, after a person is welcomed, they then enter to begin their journey and walk directly over the welcome mat. It is not that they necessarily wanted to step on the mat that made them feel welcomed, but in order to get into the desired space, the only way is to step on the mat and walk through the door. It is part of the process. A person is able to enter their journey with a good and healthy mindset because of the emotions this welcome mat initially instilled within them. It provides security, inspiration, motivation, and hope all due to reading that one word “Welcome”. Greetings are important for this exact purpose.

In order for all these people to achieve their dreams they must step through the door and always end up stepping on the welcome mat. The welcome mat just sits there and takes the dirt but keeps on welcoming everyone walking through that door because ultimately, the people that come out of it are worth so much more than a little extra dirt. If all the dirt and baggage came into the room with the person, they wouldn’t be able to achieve all their goals because their personal dirt would destroy the clean slate in front of them. It is the welcome mat’s job to prevent that from happening and make sure that all that dirt stays outside where it belongs.

Yes, being walked on is hard, but there is a way to do this without being walked all over. It is important to clear the dirt, but it is more important to not add someone else’s baggage to your own. All a welcome mat does is takes care of the excess dirt and ensures that it does not hinder anyone from getting their dream life and achieving their goals. The welcome mat gives everyone the strength to make a difference and become the best version of themselves. I would take that job any day.
